Massive FPS drop #322

Open Hokken opened 1 week ago

I have been away from the game for a month. Today I updated SPP classics to Ver 2.3.8, Core 41, DB 22. The server that use to start under 1 minute on my machine before the update now starts in around 6 minutes and I experience a massive drop in FPS in game. seems like a memory issue but not sure which bit is hoarding it since the update.

I deployed the server on AWS as my laptop GPU and CPU couldn't seem to cope anymore with the high resources usage since the latest update.

first start after update generates some teleport positions again so is only first start after update

as for FPS I'm not sure, make sure you don't run any other heavy apps when you play this. FPS is more of GPU territory, unless CPU can't handle the repack

I am using an old Dell M4500 from 2010, which might explain the FPS, I’ll probably invest on a mini PC soon just to use as a server.

celguar commented 6 days ago

so you say on previons version but with same settings and bot amounts it was different?

Hokken commented 6 days ago

Yes before the update it was very playable, a stable 30fps on my old Dell m4500, I used the same settings after the update but the loss of FPS was fairly important. It has to be the server which is now using more CPU or memory. Since I deployed the server in the cloud I can run the game between 40 and 50fps stable.

And by the way...great job, it's a very polished repack, I have been playing it for a long time.

what core / db does this effect? wotlk or all cores?

Hokken commented 6 days ago

I only use Vanilla

Yup FPS dropped can be from something running from your laptop, happened to one of my friend, his FPS was 20-40, he stopped some stuff from running on his PC and all works fine.
