There are several minor code polishing. Makes code more IDE-friendly.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have been making such corrections in my release for PHP 8 which I hope to release for testing soon.

Thanks for these changes. I have back-ported the documentation changes when developing the PHP 8.1 version which should fix the issues you encountered. Let me know if it does not cover them all.
