For some reason, there was not an existing issue for this long-standing idea. So, here it is, just to be closed.

For anyone strolling by this bug: The Interceptor API has been in production for years now (handling metrics and logging, as well as "local stats" view for Mats introspector). But, I do not feel it is fully finalized yet, so this bug is still pending its closure.
