Installation through pip requires newer pip version #29

With older version of Pip (mid v9 and earlier) did not support direct github URLs.

To install successfull, users must update Pip to a new version. Versions later than v10 definitely have support -- I cannot find the exact point within v9 lifecycle that this feature was introduced.

pip install -U pip
