CMS author lists: order of authors? #642

Open tiborsimko opened 10 years ago

tiborsimko commented 10 years ago

The CMS author list appers like this:

namely "Chatrchyan, Khachatryan, Sirunyan, Tumasyan, et al".

The order of authors is determined by the order how they appear in the record, where the authors are grouped by institutes, and the list starts with Yerevan:

@katilp Is there a CMS preferred convention on how to store and display author lists? I guess most visitors would expect to simply see all authors ordered by their alphabetical names, regardless of their institutions?

@pherterich I can programmatically modify the MARCXML file, once we agree upon some desired sorting convention...

TimSmithCH commented 10 years ago

Also, I only see 200 authors currently - was this list just a preview, or is there a display problem?

tpmccauley commented 10 years ago

@tiborsimko CMS convention is: alphabetical by country, then alphabetical by institute, then alphabetical by author name

check INSPIRE and CDS for a script/massage that fixes this

pherterich commented 9 years ago

@jalavik is there something in place already we can re-use?

jalavik commented 9 years ago

@pherterich I believe the order on INSPIRE was decided by the order from the arXiv submitted authorlist XML upon ingestion. If the open data record have a different order one would have to adjust the format code or re-order the authors in the record itself.

pherterich commented 9 years ago

@jalavik thanks. That's interesting because in the display on INSPIRE, the authors are listed alphabetically by last name. I'll investigate further.

Should be addressed with the addition of #848 and whatever we decide there

@tiborsimko @ArtemisLav @hjhsalo I presume this is something to validate once we look into the actual templates and records on Invenio 3? I dont see the need to fix sth before that.
