Original report on BitBucket by Taina Jääskeläinen.

The CC-BY 4.0 license requires that there is attribution to the vocabulary and its creator, and licence information, when a term from a vocabulary is used.

This requirement can be fulfilled by stating that terms in this element come from a particular vocabulary, with a link to the vocabulary. Creator, license information and link to the license text can then be found in the linked page.

In some elements (controlled vocabulary elements or other elements) there is in addition a need for a very short description of the element itself.

We thought all this would be easiest to do with tooltips and clickable links there https://getbootstrap.com/docs/4.0/components/popovers/ unless the developer comes up with other solutions to discuss.

Decision pending where to put the tooltips without clogging up the system too much. After the element name or after each term? Also depends on the decision whether to allow other than CESSDA-recommended vocabularies.

The User Group would like to hear suggestions from Daniel how this could be done nicely in the UI.

This concerns the elemements in the Methodology section. The terms mentioned under Time dimension, Analysis unit, Sampling procedure and Data collection mode often (but not always) come from respective vocabularies TimeMethod, AnalysisUnit, SamplingProcedure and ModeOfCollection. We would like to say somewhere that the terms often come from these vocabularies thus giving attribution plus links, and one or two sentence descriptions of each vocabulary. This could be done at section level (Methodology) with a longer text or with a shorter one for each element but without cluttering up the page too much. If no good way exist, we may need to put the info into the User Guide but few people read those.

@‌Open Concept AS Can you let us have your input re how best to display this to the User? One suggestion it to have a ‘?' icon and some 'pop up on hover’ text (c.f. the various filters) to refer from the relevant section headers in the Methodology section to the corresponding CVs in the Vocabulary Service (and note that #245 is now out of your scope, feeing up some time for this). Thanks.

Looking at this too, but regarding suggested Bootstrap tooltips, the CDC is using the Bulma CSS framework as opposed to Bootstrap which is standard for other tools. Will investigate in conjunction with CVS issues.

Infotips in detailed study view for:

@‌Taina Jääskeläinen will produce the texts, with links to CVS, Topic Classification and ELSST. Will attach an Excel with the texts.

@‌Matthew Morris or @‌Open Concept AS to put the infotips in place. Infotip texts for study view attached.

See #266 for filter infotip texts.
