I was informed that in the CDC there are multiple versions of the same datasets harvested from FORS/SWISSUbase. This is apparently because we have metadata for the same datasets in multiple languages in some cases. Is there any way to change this so that there is only one version per dataset, e.g., by using the DOI?

Best,

Brian

Brian,

I will file an issue and hopefully we will address this next week and get back to you soon.

Could examples of duplicate records be attached to this issue?

The following search, https://datacatalogue.cessda.eu/?publisher.publisher[0]=FORS%20-%20Swiss%20Centre%20of%20Expertise%20in%20the%20Social%20Sciences&sort=title-ascending, doesn't appear to show any duplicates.

Hi John,

Actually, after speaking with the head of our archive, we feel that it is ok if there are the “duplicates” in the CDC, since at least like this people can find the datasets searching in a language other than English.

So, if it’s ok with you, we can remove the issue and forget I ever mentioned it 😊

Best,

Brian

By the way, here are URLs, in case you want to see concretely what we had in mind:

In English: Senior Citizens, Climate Crisis, and Well-Being in Western Switzerland (Quantitative Data) - CESSDA Data Catalogue

In French: Les seniors, la crise climatique et le bien-être en Suisse romande (données quantitatives) - CESSDA Data Catalogue
