errors in GTE: winter break task #11

These are errors encountered and reported by scholars who are currently working with the live GTE:

a. data export issue: it seems that there are instances when birthDates are not exporting even when they are known and in the database: for example see the case of Anne Miller (http://grand-tour-explorer-2017.herokuapp.com/#/entries/3324)

b. this issue below might have been resolved with the new export feature in alpha, but just in case it is useful: “The Entries table is populating the "activities" column with data in the following format: "001,116,2889." This breaks the connecting in Palladio, since the “index” column in the Activities table does not have the leading zeros (i.e. “1" instead of "001")"

c. travel dates range searches:

“while it seems that one can successfully search by a range of dates (between 1700-1720), the filter only ever shows the start date in both the Search and Explore screens— See the attached screenshot.”

@ceserani , For part c), can you send me the screenshot?

For part a., it looks like there is just a data mismatch issue -- Anne Miller's birth date is on the database in the main site, but on the alpha site it is not even in the database. Did someone edit the birth date on this particular person on the main site since Cody gave me the copy of the data?

Hi—Ashwin, yes, the Anne Miller’s birth date was added this past autumn (a case in which the original parsing did not catch the date), so I am not surprised it does not appear on the alpha site —but it was there when Rachel downloaded the data a couple of weeks ago and it didn’t figure—maybe you could try again the download from the live main site and see if it works now? G
