Improve code quality #45

Nothing special, just cosmetic changes. Removed some obsolete code, fixed README and tested the code with pylint.

Thanks for the PR. Just merged! One thing to note for future PRs it that I'm now trying to use black for formatting so any whitespace edits will get overridden by whatever black says when I do the merge.
