What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Firefox to close normally without Error messages
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
4.2.1
Please provide any additional information below.
Each morning, the first thing I normally do, once I am able to get over to
my desk to sit down, is open "Firefox" and then open "Feed Sidebar" to
check the feeds of some particular feeds. When I'm done with "Feed
Sidebar" I close it. When I get done perusing the feeds I close them out
and then close "Firefox". When I close "Firefox" I get this:
in the form of a dialog box, with an "OK" button centered below it. If I
click "OK" it opens a new instance or session of "Firefox", but the dialog
box remains and of course each time I click "OK" an new browser window
appears, but the dialog box remains.
The only way I've found to get rid of this is to "KILL" the process. Since
this dialog is coming from within Firefox I have to "KILL" "Firefox";
which, of course, gives me a new familiar dialog box, "Previous Session
-or- New Session". I think we're all familiar with that dialog box at one
point or another.
The first time this happened I installed a new version of "Firefox",
3.0.17, my current version, thinking that this was a "Firefox" issue and
that a new version might help things. For a while it seemed like it
helped, but then there it was again. I hadn't even considered "Feed
Sidebar" at that point. I just don't have the time to jump through
Mozilla's error reporting hoops, so it never got reported although I did
search it both at Mozilla and Google it. Then I figured it just might be a
"java" problem since I had just installed a new version of "java". I
honestly did not try to figure out what it said in the dialog since that is
all Greek to me, I thought perhaps you would understand it, but silly me as
I'm sitting here writing this and half starring at the error message I
realize that it plainly lists "feedbar" in the error content.
Perhaps I should uninstall "Feed Sidebar" and then reinstall it. I will do
that after I 'm done sending this off. I will also be installing the most
current version of "Firefox", at least the 3.0 version. I'm still nervous
about doing a full upgrade and very little time to research it. I have
lots to do and very little time to do it. Sound familiar? Well, it
doesn't get any easier as you get older. But I will make the time to
completely uninstall "Feed Sidebar" and "Mozilla Firefox" and then new
installs of both and see how that works.
Anyway, as time went by I started noticing that I was getting the dialog
only when I accessed certain sites or pages. I still hadn't linked "Feed
Sidebar" to the issue. Then one day I realized that one site in particular
was causing it. And that's when I realize that I only accessed that site,
that page with "Feed Sidebar". So I closed out "Firefox", brought up a
new browser window, opened "Feed Sidebar", then closed it without accessing
any feeds, and then closed "Firefox" and sure enough there was that pesky
dialog box. I did the same thing several more times just to make sure and
sure enough "Feed Sidebar" was the culprit, as much as I hate to admit it;
never had a problem with it before. Well, except for the fact that it used
to open up with the folders closed and only show the instances of the
newest feeds. Now it opens with the folders wide open.
But that's the name of that tune. I hope all this information helps you
out and anyone else who may be having this problem and still hasn't figured
out it's Feed Sidebar.
Thank you, for your most valuable time concerning this matter and without
