Feedback needed: Can you check over these new design manual page layouts for atomic components to make sure they are ready to be added. Reviewed by
Summary: Atomic compentents from V1 work need to be added into the design manual. This page covers a 30,000 ft. perspective on what Atomic design is and how we use it at the CFPB. Audience: Design and dev. @ CFPB Phase of Project: execution (we want to start building these so they are ready for the DM update) Background Information: background information in post above. Happy to share more in a call/HO. Feedback Format: GH feedback would be great but happy to have a meeting to go over things if it feels right.
After team discussion and feedback, we have decided to hold on the development of this page. With the first release of V1 documentation on the Design Manual we feel that the atomic design language is feeling a little out of place with the way other components are being documented and described.
We will look to update and include similar page at a later date. The information still accurately describes how components are built and coded in V1, but we want to make sure the information is a helpful addition to the DM.
The V1 team is looking to document atomic design elements that will be found in Wagtail for other project teams. We feel the best way to do this is to incorporate this information into the CFPB Design Manual, so that it is available to all project teams (and the rest of the bureau). These pages are intended to fit within the updated Design Manual IA. The intended page additions for atomic documentation can be found here
Content is not fully resolved still would like @schaferj or @sarahsimpson to give input.
Page summary:
The "Atomic Design" page will live in the best practices section of the updated IA for the Design manual. It will function as an introduction to the use of atomic elements within page templates. This reflects how future project teams building on cf.gov will interact with Wagtail.
