At the last two backlog refinement meetings the team has discussed the question of where in the process we will collect the "Type of financial institution" data from a filer.
What we know:
- Initially we will need to collect this information from all filers
- Our support staff does not need to check this information
- In other words, it is not necessary for this data submission to generate a case management system ticket
- Changes to other financial institution details do generate a case management system ticket and have a processing time (24-48 hours for a response - processing could take longer). This means a potential blocker/delay to filing.
- Regardless of the approach that we go with, a filer will have the opportunity to confirm their financial institution details in a read-only format before they sign and submit.
- Filers that wish to make a change to their financial institution profile details (other than Type of financial institution) will be able to click on the "Update your financial institution profile" link and make the necessary changes.
Approach 1
Flow: Filing home > Update your financial institution (form) > User proceeds to Step 1. Upload file
Filing home:
- Card shows “Update your financial institution details” action
- Secondary action link?
Update your financial institution profile:
- Breadcrumb returns user to “Filing home”
- Button sends user to “Upload file” where the user can begin the filing process
Technical features
- “Type of financial institution” data serves as a flag
- Only users that have NEVER submitted “Type of financial institution” will see this as the first action
- Breadcrumb returns user to “Filing home” (instead of “Platform home”)
- Form button is customized for this flow to send user to the first step of the filing flow after they submit
- In this flow we have two potential options for how to route form submissions:
- All form updates, including “Type of financial institution” are routed to the support staff for processing - this is simpler but also means that even for a change to Type of financial institution there is a processing time/delay
- Conditional case generation: If a user only makes updates to the “Type of financial institution” details, updates DO NOT go to the support staff for processing. All other updates are routed to the support staff for processing.
- A filer will have the opportunity to confirm their financial institution details as a part of the filing process in a read-only format before they sign and submit
- Filers that wish to make a change to their financial institution profile details will be able to click on the "Update your financial institution profile" link and make the necessary changes
Questions
- If we send a user straight to the filing flow when do we show them the submission confirmation?
- Will pending updates block the sign and submit?
- Is there a secondary action we would like to show on the filing home card?

- Card shows “Provide type of financial institution” action
- Button takes user to “Provide type of financial institution” page
- Breadcrumb returns the user to “Filing home”
- User clicks the button to “Submit and continue” to the first step of the filing process, “Upload file”
- Any filer who HAS provided their type of financial institution will not see this step when they reach the filing home and will instead see the "Upload file" as their first step
- A filer will have the opportunity to confirm their financial institution details as a part of the filing process in a read-only format before they sign and submit
- Filers that wish to make a change to their financial institution profile details will be able to click on the "Update your financial institution profile" link and make the necessary changes
Technical features
- Only users that have NEVER submitted “Type of financial institution” details will see this as the first action
- Breadcrumb is customized for this flow to return to “Filing home” instead of “Platform home”
- Button is customized for this flow to send user to the first step of the filing flow after they submit
- Type of financial institution submissions do not go to support staff for processing
