I had no problems using the Markdown syntax to write a bio. However, it was not entirely clear to me how to commit changes to my fork or submit a pull request to the uc-cfss master repo. Luckily, I asked Chelsea Ernhofer how to do these things before leaving lab last Wednesday, and she was able to clearly explain it to me. More detail below:
My problem and its solution: I was just hitting the 'pull' and 'push' icons in RStudio, rather than hitting the 'diff' tab, staging the files, writing a comment, and hitting commit. Thanks Chelsea!
