I was away from the lab session so I was quite confused at the very beginning of how to pull a repository from Github and work on RStudio and “export” it back there. The step-by-step instructions on the syllabus were very helpful and here’s a youtube how-to video that also helped me a lot [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YxZ8J2rqhEM&list=PLThQDx_upEsShKbmg1MU2LQaqynt4zNVN]

I first forked and cloned the README.md repository. (Details: After forking it from Github, I cloned the link and opened RStudio: File > New Project > Version Control > Git and pasted my URL link). I created a folder and saved all the repositories in a set location. While editing the README.md with R Markdown, I was exploring different Markdown elements to create a short biography, I saved all my changes and committed several times along the way. The cheatsheet for R Markdown was also very useful [https://www.rstudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/rmarkdown-cheatsheet-2.0.pdf].

One difficulty I ran into is that some picture files couldn’t open as a picture, you can only click on it and then see the picture. I tested it a couple of times and it seems that we would first need a .jpg format url link and then command ! [photo] right before the picture link to show it directly (instead of a link). Finally, I saved all the changes, committed to the HTML file, pulled and pushed them up to Github.

First attempt at programming, yay
