Privacy control #18

Open cgeltly opened 9 years ago

A mechanism of privacy control is needed to allow users to keep parts (or all) of their data private. Ideally, this would allow fine-grained control, e.g to hide specific individuals, but also broad control, e.g. to hide all people who may still be alive.

An issue is also whether we can inherit privacy settings from the imported files and incorporate into the new system.

We might consider the following rules as a general standard: http://search.atavus.org/page/gedcom. It's pretty hard to let users come up with their own rules for privacy.

For more fine-grained control, we can make it possible to set an individual or family as private from the user interface.

Private information in a GEDCOM seems to be signalled with a RESN tag on an individual, see http://homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~pmcbride/gedcom/55gcch2.htm#RESTRICTION_NOTICE
