On the surface it's trivial using supersplat, the editor. However it doesn't support combining them again. For checking alignment / importing parts and other things we will want to do, an alternative would be better suited. Theres a Blender plugin I will test out.

So far the only way to split a splat/sply file is to manually split it in the Webeditor. To do this do the following:

Using the Blender plugin for the cleanup issue and this one, is something I explored with mixed impressions.

It requires an older version of blender and is less intuitive than the Supersplat Webeditor for people new to Blender. The steps above can be replicated in, but the performance will be bad, especially when you enable an inaccurate preview.

What it offers is splitting splats by selection into seperate objects which can both be part of the same larger scene. You can handle it like a pointcloud with the toolset that blender offers and then export objects as seperate files.

It'll be easier to use Supersplat, not just for splitting splats. If it later becomes relevant to recombine splats or to change their origin points the Webeditor wont work for those specific cases. Before we will have to tweak Supersplat or find other editors, we will have a Blender workaround.
