Problems with Export, missing course_metadata.json #58

This is my second Lidar course try. First went really well.

The error I get on export is FileNotFoundError ...\course_metadata.json

It's looking for this file in a folder called "unpacked" that includes other files as well. I looked back at my first course I did this way and sure enough, that folder and file are there. I can't even remember how this was generated. It is not part of the LAS or LAZ zipped files. Where is this folder (and the file) supposed to come from? What did I do wrong or different this time? I followed the same tutorial and even though I had to go find the EPSG file, Everything seemed to load up and generate just fine in the tool.

Unpacked comes after you have processed the laz or las file. Then unpacked comes. As well as the map. After successfully process of laz, you go to the import, where you are to choose imported mapped trees etc. When you press import then it looks for the unpacked files, usually when it promts folder just press ok, coz it is there :) hopefully it helps. If it doesnt, retract and do the lidar projecting again

This helped some. I regenerated the whole thing from scratch and it did create the unpacked folder. I was able to load the heightmap, and make the mask. All seemed fine again. Save went fine as well. I copied the course back over (after waiting a good few minutes to make sure the save was complete) but after multiple attempts, I keep getting a Network Error when trying to load the course to edit.

I have noticed when it generates the Lidar, after generating heightmap and object map, it then goes through a very lengthy process "finding heights of tress." I don't remember this from the first course I did. Also, the course file size is twice as big as the other I did and it's not a big course. I have also tried creating the course file using none of the OSM data in case some of the mapping is weird there. No change. Still network error 1706.

It does takes alot of time if there is many trees finding 45000nunique trees takes a bit ofntime normal

Is there anything else I can try, or I am just out of luck with this course? Maybe the data just isn't good?

Phenrik1 commented 4 years ago

It is very possible the data is bad. Where did you get the lidar from?

Network errors are generic catches in the game side. Double check that your OSM doesn't have anything terrible like a par 0 hole or a par 18 hole.

I would separate the debugging into: import just the lidar terrain and see what shows up in game

then add OSM and see if it still loads.

I appreciate the help. I just am not having luck. Have tried what you suggested, and also on two other courses/plots. Something in my game is just not liking the course files I am generating. Even tried from scratch with a new base plot. Maybe it's just bad luck with lidar terrain data? I will try a couple more to see if I get any ones that work. Thanks again.

Is this 2019 or 2K21?

kocgolf commented 4 years ago
  1. I don't own 2k1 yet.
