Sharkey, Art/Unknown #9

An item in the 1929-03-22 Frederick Daily News refers to the 1929 Martinsburg player as "Art Sharkey, outfielder." He appears to have wound up pitching. We have an Art Sharkey listing at that time, but for a shortstop playing three full seasons at Johnstown. So there are definitely at least two different Sharkeys active at this point.

One possibility: We may have Art Sharkey's demographics attached to the incorrect record. Another is there are two players named Art Sharkey. A third is the Frederick paper is incorrect.

There are also two other Unknown Sharkey records around that time that could also be in the mix for one or the other of these men.

Resolved. The 1929 Martinsburg player was in fact Art Sharkey; it was the 1930 player who is a different man.
