The plugin API makes me want to murder someone #1612

The person who wrote the documentation of this plugin API needs to be summarily executed.

This is the second time I have had to reopen this document and I'm as furious to see it as I was 7 years ago. The part that pisses me off the most is that the prose of writing pretends that this is somehow a nice and easy to digest example.

Thank you for the rest but not for this.
