Open PJansta opened 4 years ago

Please, would it be possible to add "Not assigned" to "Preparation type" in type edit form (both "quick" and "comprehensive" form.

I have paper, where it is not assigned how the types are mounted.

Thanks a lot. Petr

edit out everything but one of the templates

These are example templates only, feel free to add general issues.

At present there are two types of primary issues we're tracking: 1) Problems with data representation - as data are migrated from UCD to JNCDB there were issues 2) Problems with the application (errors returned, inablity to do X, suggestions for more efficient Y, requests for features)

For issues of 2) you might consider filing an issue directly here https://github.com/SpeciesFileGroup/taxonworks/issues. We will migrate issues from here to there as applicable.

"Not assigned" falls into the category of "no data". The problem with adding this as an option is that we don't knon the unkown-unknowns, i.e. if a person provides not data, did they finish the record, or not. I feel it's better to add a note if its important to resolve this, otherwise the "no data" paradigm persists throughout the application.

It might also be that you want, as part of the curatorial process, to indicated "Done". This can be done with a Confidence level and a good explanation of what that level means. We could discuss this next week?

Hi Matt,

yes, I understand. Not assigned is not good, I agree. And what about "Not mentioned in the original description"? Or something like that? Confidence level could also be OK, I think. the other problem is that once I will select something from the "preparation type" offer (i.e., pin, fossil etc.), I can not change the assignment for none (or nothing if there is no mention about preparation type in the description). See Torymus hirtipennis Matsuo, 2020 where I put "Pin". It is not correct as Matsuo did not mention the preparation type in his paper. But now I can not correct it. It is not so important for TW, indeed. However, also some improvements (if they are really improvements :)) can help. We can talk about it more during the next session.

Cheers, Petr
