Jitsi Meet #3338

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. Hi,

Jitsi Meet is a powerful and very easy to use videoconference tool => no account is needed to use it and no software installation is needed for its users. Creating a room takes a few seconds.

It is possible to use meet.jit.si, without any server installation needed : there is no time limitation, no limit with the number of participants...

It is possible to setup our own Jitsi Meet instance or embed a meet.jit.si room into our own website. Jitsi Meet has an External API that can be used to embed an existing Jits Meet instance into any webpage. We can do this with our own self-installed instance or run it from meet.jit.si – no server installation required.

I think this open source solution should be considered to be integrated in Chamilo, like it is in Moodle for example : see here.

Describe the solution you'd like Having a solution to integrate Jitsi Meet would be great.

Additional context I think that the Jitsi project is in the same line as Chamilo : ease of use, powerful and useful features. Moreover :

Thanks.

Tanchon.

Well... as somebody who set up a lot of servers the past months...

No, Jitsi is not really "in the same line" as Chamilo. Have a look at BBB and compare this to Jitsi, and you realize:

So, yes, Jitsi is another videoconference tool, open source, ... But i don't see the needs that Chamilo should jump on it and start developing a plugin as soon as possible. (there are several bugs which should have more attention)

Nevertheless you are VERY WELCOME to start with one! :-)

Thank you lonesomewalker for your answer !

I totally approve you : bugs must be a priority (I didn't present my request as a priority) !

From the user point of view (i'm not a developper, just a modest user) Jitsi is really a good solution (but not from a technical point of view, according to your experience). As a user, i frequently use meet.jit.si (no server installation) and i didn't notice that it was unable to manage correctly a few users. And, as i tried Jitsi into moodle (via the plugin), i thought that it could be interesting to have the same thing in Chamilo... But it's not a question of life or death ! :-)

Thanks.

Tanchon.
