new sync update possibly not allowing tether

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. I downloaded the new update for my eris 
2. Re-enable usb debugging
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Go to start tunnel as usual but it states error: device not 
found.

What version of the product are you using? On what 
operating system?
Windows 7 and droid eris

Please provide any additional information below.

It was flawless until I installed the sync update on my 
phone. I had to enable usb debugging, nothing else to my 
knowledge has changed. Know of anything it may have 
disabled?

Same phone, same issue - worked before, WinXP won't install the drivers and 
can't recognize the phone.
