HANCESTRO ontology update & expansion #374

Partner with EBI to update and expand the Human Ancestry Ontology (HANCESTRO). This ontology is used by CZ CELLxGENE but has many gaps. SCB Ancestry and Pediatrics Networks will generate new data that will be used as genetic evidence required to create new ontology terms to update HANCESTRO. We will partner with and import other ontologies, such as H3Africa, and commercial partners if feasible.

Outcome 3: Enrich metadata and annotation of cells Milestone 1: Update and expand HANCESTRO ancestry ontology used by CELLxGENE (Feb 2023 -May 2024)

HANCESTRO new term request process has been developed and circulated with grantees. Issues/progress can be tracked/viewed on GitHub.
