There was no need to close the other issue. It could have been edited to update.
OH, Didn't think about that.
emulationstation git repo looks active. Last commit few hours ago. 2.11.2 released mid 2023. https://github.com/RetroPie/EmulationStation
Problem with emulationstation-de is the -de suffix makes it look like a language extension. Also, the upstream name is now officially ES-DE. Will have to look more into history of fork, differences, etc.
I see, It seems that I was looking at the original repo and not the Retropie Fork. I was confused about both this and the Desktop Edition and someone on reddit pointed me to that repo.
Also ES-DE seems to be one that is recommended more, Unless you're using RetroPie.
Although the benifit do still stand, about the manual configuration for emulation Station, There should a es_system.cfg
file in /etc/emulationstation/
according to the documentation for debian install but that seems to be missing for Arch

Purpose:
This is a emulation front-end to get a console like UI and place to view and play games and Roms in one place
Benefits:
The Chaotic AUR has emulationstation which is an old project with last commit 6 years ago. EmulationStation Desktop edition is a fork of that project which provides a more pre configured setup and less bugs and manual setup.
