ReleaseProcedures document (chapel-docs) includes a checklist of details to be checked.
If there are any surprises in store for 1.18.0, best to find them before code freeze (Sep 10).

Some of these checks can be time-consuming.

release tarball content change from last release
check that all test/release/examples tests are listed in:
- their directory's README
- their directory's Makefile

check README's under release/test/examples to see if they were updated for any added/removed chpl tests in each subdir. benchmarks/hpcc/variants is the only dir with *.chpl files added, and that README was already edited. Cheers!
