Causes FF to forget last opened tabs and groups between opens? #21

I installed this add on and loved the ability to not have the groups disappear into the 'out of sight out of mind' black hole. However when I closed down Firefox for the day I had three groups, all with unique names and maybe 3-5 tabs each.
When I opened firefox the next day, I didn't have any groups or tabs remembered and was given my home tab again.

I'd love to keep using this, but if all tabs and all groups are lost day to day, I'm not sure how useful it can be.

Am I overlooking a setting or is this by design? Please help!

Firefox options -> General -> When firefox starts: Show my windows and tabs from last time

ebfree commented 12 years ago

Ok. that's what I always had set as and that's why I was confused. It hadn't occurred to me that it would have been changed. Could installing this add-on have altered that somehow? Otherwise, maybe when Firefox updated to 13 it changed the setting... Sorry for the confusion and Thank you!

This addon doesn't alter that preference. Also it never happened to me that upgrading firefox would change that preference. I use firefox portable though, so I don't know if it could happen when upgrading using the installer.

I suggest you to install session manager. Then, whether you set firefox to open last tabs or not, you can always restore your latest windows and tabs.

I just had this happen again this morning, with four groups of multiple tabs each relating to project research, so that hurts quite a bit. But the first thing I then checked was the "When firefox starts" setting and it is set to "Show my windows and tabs from last time".

Is there any chance there is a config or hidden file somewhere in this add on that might have saved the status of groupings and tabs from maybe yesterday that I could insert back somehow into Firefox? (Long shot, but just hoping. If there isn't, please feel free to re-close this.)

Now I'll have to look into the session manager tool you mentioned. I've never heard of it before.

Thank you for your assistance!

This addon does not modify any firefox internal preference, nor does it has anything to do with firefox session.

And you really need to install this

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/session-manager/

It is one of those essential addon if you want to keep your tabs between firefox execution.
