mcdowell project update 2/10 #6

Just got started this week with our first meetings. Charlie started marking up the xml which gave us more direction in our project. We are planning on removing most of the markup that is currently in the text. The markup follows TEI guidelines and is not helpful to our project. I went through the database of letters and manually sorted them into folders based on recipient: to theo(van gogh's brother), to van gogh(vincent), and "to other(any other person)". We have not decided if we will use all of the letters or just the letters to Van Gogh's brother Theo.

Your project sounds like its coming together really well! The only thing I have to ask is how exactly do you plan on marking up and quantifying your data? Also, I noticed you are looking for keywords on mental health or illness. Have you thought of using Mallet to possibly supplement your research?
