Multiple domains #1

Takahe is a new ActivityPub server with support for multiple domains on the same server (“virtual hosting”).

I wonder if this could be replicated in chatternet. Virtual hosting of multiple domains on a single ActivityPub(-ish?) server removes the need to run a whole new server for every person or organisation that brings their own domain.

(Also can you be reached via email, discord or similar for a chat? I’m working on something similar and would love to talk more.)

Thanks for the link to that project, it's great to see so much innovation happening so quickly around Activity Pub these days.

I am not quite clear on the "virtual hosting" concept, so maybe I misunderstood the questions. But it seems to me that this relates to handling data for users registered on multiple domains. The Chatter Net Server currently isn't really a full Activity Pub server. It handles Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs) for users which are not tied to any particular URL. And it handles Content Identifiers (CIDs) for other objects, which once again, are not tied to any particular URL. Hence the decentralized nature of the project.

However I will want to create a bridge to allow interoperability with the broader Fediverse, but that's a bit further down the roadmap at the moment.

If I misunderstood the question please feel free to continue the conversation or reach out by email (you can find it on my GitHub profile).

Thanks for the interest!
