Please implement commands for the Checkers menu items so they can be bound to 
key combinations.  cf. the Keys menu under Preferences.

(If this is not familiar to you, I will look for an old project of mine that 
implemented this functionality and send you some tips.)

Keybindings can now be set from the menu (they could be set before this change, 
but you had to change the filter settings to see them). Search for "Checker 
plugin" in the key binding page. Some default bindings have been provided where 
it made sense.
