6 months ago i'm gonna leave this up for review because this is a fairly large refactor, and it's likely something will break (it shouldn't break as far as main is concerned, but idk about development) and i don't want to hunt for bugs atm
i'm not working on this any further—i've added all the utility i'll need in the future, and it's fully working
(i cannot be bothered to make it self-manage duplicates, so just do the map stuff I've done in previous iterations of graph builder)
