Notes on Managing the Measuring Event

Managing Numbers

Limit numbers to 20 people for measuring at the workshop and pre-split by email beforehand into 2 sessions 12pm and 2pm. people over this number are pointed to other 'events':

Space Management

Use the G1 space but utilise overspill space in the café that @lesleytaker can organise

I've added some info to FAQ.md to help manage people who may not be able to make the measuring workshop. We need a strategy to manage this and not end up with frustrated people with high expectations: @amcewen and I had a chat about this last week and I think this summarises what we thought we could suggest. We'd need to have this clear as part of how we manage the measuring workshop which is why Ive put this here.

Maybe all have a look at this; I dont want to over committ and take peoples names as that implies we are a service and will commit to printing for everyone who wants one;

What if the measuring Workshops are full and I can't get a hand printed in the exhibition period?

DesktopProsthetics is a project with FACT within an exhibition: and like other things you can make at DoESLiverpool it's not a service and it can be hard to sustain and help everyone interested in a hand, so we cannot guarantee we can print a hand for the people who need them.

But we can help point people in the right direction and help them do it themselves which is what the project is about. However we'd love to see a community grow around this project but it will take people to drive it. DoES Liverpool do have regular Maker Nights and Maker Days where people can learn more about DoES facilities, meet other people and this is a good start to meet other interested people. We won't be taking details of people who have not been able to take part in the exhibition but we are planning on a Maker Day in the future particularly about printing prosthetics so join the DoES Liverpool Google Group to stay informed.

We've a list of further ways of getting involved if you have not been able to be measured at the measuring workshop and print a hand.
