A7 devices are very buggy on Linux and basically, do not work on it.
Although you can use an try version of Checkra1n such as 0.11.0 or 0.10.2

I had the same error with ipad air wifi on 12.5.5. The trick that worked: Disconnect the cable and reconnect asap during setting up the main bug.. On checkra1n 0.12.4 (options: 1st and 3rd settting on)
@2hug ok thanks, testing that next! Did you run the program on a Linux machine or used the bootable ISO? Tried the iso method but it didn't find the device.
Bootable USB (going into boot selection with pressing F8 while restarting pc)
Tell us about your setup:
What do you expect, and what is happening instead? The device to boot in a jailbroken state.
Did you see a popup on the device stating it entered "Safe Mode" due to an error? No.
Does the issue also occur if you tick "Safe Mode" in the checkra1n options? Yes.
Any other info, error logs, screenshots, ...? Can't get a screenshot right now, but I can tomorrow if I need to.
