Tell us about your setup:

  1. What iDevice are you using? iPhone 6
  2. On what version of iOS is it? iOS 12.5.5
  3. What version of checkra1n are you using? 0.12.4 beta
  4. What is your host system (OS version? Hackintosh? VM? etc.)? I used Windows to install a 'system' to my hard disk to jailbreak
  5. How are you connecting to the device (USB-A? USB-C? Apple/3rd party cable? Through a USB hub?)? USB-A with Apple Lightening

What are the steps to reproduce the issue?

  1. I connected my iPhone with my PC, rebooted my PC and started to jailbreak with my phone in DFU mode.
  2. When jalibreaking, the screen kept showing "setting up the exploit" for a long time.
  3. Then it failed and the screen showed code -31. ...

What do you expect, and what is happening instead? I expected my iPhone can be jailbroken, but it kept "setting up the exploit" for a long time and failed with code -31 then.

Did you see a popup on the device stating it entered "Safe Mode" due to an error? No

Does the issue also occur if you tick "Safe Mode" in the checkra1n options? No

Any other info, error logs, screenshots, ...? Didn't take

I do have the same problem with my iPad Air 1. Same iOS version. I tried several cables (USB-A to Lightning, USB-C to Lightning, original and third party) and several adapters / docking stations and USB ports on my M1 Macbook Air and my Windows PC with Bootrain.

The options do not change a thing. Is there a way to get a real to see where the process stops?

This helped me to solve the problem. Look carefully:

I did really count to 10 then unplugged it then counted to 5 and the replugged it. I had to do it a couple of times before it worked!
