error -31 with 0.12.4 and iPhone 5 #2277

Tell us about your setup:

  1. What iDevice are you using? iPhone 5s (a1457)
  2. On what version of iOS is it? Unkown
  3. What version of checkra1n are you using? Checkra1n beta 0.12.4
  4. What is your host system (OS version? Hackintosh? VM? etc.)? Ubuntu 20.04LTS
  5. How are you connecting to the device (USB-A? USB-C? Apple/3rd party cable? Through a USB hub?)? USB

What are the steps to reproduce the issue?

  1. Select Options "Allowed untested ...." and " Skip A11..."
  2. It displays "Setting up the exploit (this is the heap spray)" for a while
  3. Failed with error code -31 ...

What do you expect, and what is happening instead? Expected was jailbreak with success, but it failed.

Did you see a popup on the device stating it entered "Safe Mode" due to an error? No

Does the issue also occur if you tick "Safe Mode" in the checkra1n options? Yes

Any other info, error logs, screenshots, ...? No

I used Checkra1n v0.10.2. Set ALL options in the Checkra1n settings, start the jailbreak process, as soon as you will see "right before trigger", count to 5, then very quickly remove the cable slightly (until -1 error) and plug it back in. "Booting" appears immediately and the process is 100% successful (tested on a many 5S phones with different IOS versions).

Try it in any newer devices?

Any newer devices from 5S to X works with Checkra1n 0.12.4 (to IOS 14.4 definitely). But older devices, i mean iphone 5, 4S etc, doesn't work with Checkra1n.
