i3wm support? #37

Is anyone working on this?

cheesecakeufo commented 6 years ago

What are the issues exactly with i3wm? I don't have it installed so I'm not quite sure what's happening.

nemanjan00 commented 6 years ago

It is appearing as window and is staying only on one workspace...

nemanjan00 commented 6 years ago

Also, it is appearing as a floating window... (I think this can be solved in config of i3wm)

What should be implemented is moving with workspace and getting hidden if there are any windows in that workspace.

This can be used IPC interface

nemanjan00 commented 6 years ago

Is someone working on this or should I?

132ikl commented 6 years ago

+1, I'm not familiar with IPC so I can't help, sorry :|

nemanjan00 commented 6 years ago

If you could help me with understanding your project, I could try to do IPC.

Sounds ok?

It would be very nice to add support for i3wm :+1:

pthreat commented 5 years ago

It also doesn't works by using xwinwrap :(

rodrigo-ceccato commented 4 years ago

Is there any progress on this? I would love to have an animated wallpaper behind transparent windows

rsubtil commented 4 years ago

I can try and check this next week, but I'm pretty sure it's a problem with i3wm itself, as it works flawlessly with bspwm. You might have more luck reporting the bug there instead.

rodrigo-ceccato commented 4 years ago

Oh, I did not know, thanks for the information. I will post the bug there. In the meantime, if it helps someone, this reddit comment has a script that works on i3 (using xwinwrap to set a gif, .mp4 or a youtube video as wallpaper).
