Display pointLayers as images #64

Since markers are going to be deprecated, it would be nice to have the 
possibility to show the pointLayers as images. I tried to use the setIcon 
method but it didn't have any effect.

( This should be an enchancement issue, but I could not see any way to make it 
one )
