Doc_id field thinks its blank even when it's not #83

I clicked on + for a new record. Clicked on Find Document and then clicked on Create. This red message appeared with the next Doc ID. So I went back into 'Find a document' and set default which put a number in to the Doc_ID field, but the red warning stayed.

I tried to click around it but it would not disappear.

I've just tried this again and this is still the same, but goes away when you go back and choose default
