Now Playing seems to make iPhone backups extremely slow

What postal code/address, search distance, and search date have you set Now 
Playing to?

94040, 10 miles, Today

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Install Now Playing
2. Launch Now Playing (to download movie data)
3. Sync iPhone with iTunes

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Without Now Playing installed, backup completes in less than a minute. With Now 
Playing it can 
take 20-30 minutes or more.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Now Playing 1.7 on iPhone 2.1 and iTunes 8.0.1 on OS X 10.5.5

Please let me know if you need any specifics to help troubleshoot, but it seems 
like Now Playing 
downloads a very large number of small files, which then take iTunes forever to 
back up.

Please send this information to Apple.  They are responsible for the iPhone 
backup code.
