Wallpaper of correct size being scaled

Wallpapers are not mapped to the screen 1 to 1 even if they are the correct 
size.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Make an image of dimensions 2*w : h where w and h are the screen resolution
2. Apply it as a wallpaper in full
3. You will see scaling artifacts

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
You expect the wallpaper to be shown on the screen exactly as it is in the 
file, instead you see artifacts due to scaling as if the wallpaper is being 
scaled down from the original size and then back up to the screen size, even 
when both are the same.

What version of the product are you using? On what phone? What Android
version?
1.3.6 Standalone on Android 2.2 on Meizu M9

Please provide any additional information below.
wallpaper is 1280x960 screen is 640x960
Comparison by screenshot proves the image is being altered.

actually i've now bypassed it by using Quickpic for setting the wallpaper, so 
this is likely not a adw launcher issue.
