Random lags in HD #74

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Opening HD material in Mplayer
2. Watching movie
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Smooth playback, instead I get random lags in video, altough CPU isn't
never fully used. This same can happen with just 720p and 1080p material.
Video isn't lagging all the time, but it happens randomly.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Ubuntu 8.10, CoreAVC 1.8.5

Please provide any additional information below.

Try using it with CoreAVC 1.7.0 instead. I'm using that and it works for me.

I can try it.

Someone with same problem suspected that it can also be, because of latest
Ati's Drivers

Problem solved.

I uninstalled Ati's closed drivers and decided to reinstall them using Envy.

I see one difference in xorg.conf:

Section "Module"
    Load "glx"
    Disable "dri2"
EndSection

That seems to fix it. I don't know what else Envy configures, but no more
random lags
in video.
