There are endpoints doing possibly long and delicate jobs, for example:

Admin should:

trigger the endpoint
endpoint will respond immediately with status code 200 (job started)
admin will poll endpoint with setInterval to check for data change (i.e. plugin is active/inactive or installed/uninstalled)
admin refreshes accordingly

@pieroit a little update

LLM/Embedder settings While saving settings, the side panel cannot be closed
Wipe Memory The modal is closed when wipe starts, showing a loading spinner, no interaction on the page is possible until operation does not complete
Plugins wip

@kodaline as noted here, core will execute sync (no background_task) and the client will just freeze and wait

It's not the most elegant way, but...
