First of all, hifiasm gave me very good results on my hexaploïd wheat assembly. It is a 15Gb genome, so we did 6 Hifi smrtcells to get ~30X coverage.
The question I have is about the memory usage of the program. hifiasm outputs the reads in the *.ec.fa file but the 6 Hifi smrtcells fasta file count as >450Go which is huge. The computing cluster I use allows me to allocate that amount of memory but I would like to know if an option to discard that file will be up in the next patches / versions ?
