Running 0.3.7 on a system that's extracted 90 discs correctly. Some SACDs will
read the table of content information, show the title information, start
extraction, but then lock up before showing the progress bar at all. There
will be a small partial file written out already though.
Here's a list of SACDs that do this, with many being first generation discs
from Sony/Columbia.
Billy Joel - 52nd Street (Columbia CS 69385)
Billy Joel - An Innocent Man (Columbia CS 69389)
Time Out - The Dave Brubeck Quartet (Columbia CS 65122)
Meat Loaf - Bat Out of Hell (2nd edition with multi-channel mix, Cleveland/Epic
ES 62171)
Dead Can Dance - Into The Labyrinth (Mobile Fidelity SAD 2711 CD)
10cc - The Original Soundtrack (Japan SHM 2010-08-25)
Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road (3 disc edition from 2003, freezes only
on CD 2, Island B0001478-40)
Bob Dylan - Blond on Blond (Columbia C2H 90325)
This may be a duplicate of #84, but there's not enough information there to be
sure. I'll pick up that disc too and compare. Some of the discs that seemed
to be in this category did work after multiple extraction attempts, such as the
first edition of "Bat Out of Hell". The ones listed here all failed in all of
at least three attempts.
The problem happens when running the program directly on the PS3 itself.
Workarounds:
Some discs that have this problem will work if you simply try again. On my
PS3, letting the system cool down first seemed to improve results.
On most of these discs, if I start the program in server mode and extract on a
Mac running the 0.3.6 binary distributed here, the ISO files will extract over
the network. I'm not sure yet if that's because the freeze is specific to
0.3.7, or if it's specific to extraction on the PS3 itself.
I expect to test this a few different ways until I nail down exactly what's
going on here, so not expecting any response here. I just wanted to start
documenting the issue and its scope better.
