To support our port of Yamaha OPL3 FM Audio Synth (aka "SoundBlasterPro"), we need digital audio output based on I2S protocol.
While the headphones are a bare minimum, a 1+ watt speaker would be a very nice addition.
Also consider adding a Mic, for completeness. Waveshare board with Cirrus WM8960 Audio CODEC is very nice, full-featured audio subsystem. We have a ton of working experience and ready-made code for it.
