[ ] Enable ECMAModules in jest
[ ] Enable module: "esnext" in tsconfig (copy this modification over to chiubaka/tsconfig)
[ ] Refactor code to avoid use of __dirname
[ ] Re-enable unicorn/prefer-modules in linting configs

I think I've given up on this. Last attempt I made to resolve this went poorly and involved Jest and tsc freaking out over the attempt.

This felt like a lot of work for a change to deprecate __dirname that actually felt less clean in most cases.
