Are you also using XFCE's compositor?
If not, please include the usual troubleshooting information: distribution; kernel version; graphics hardware; driver version; etc.
I disabled XFCE's compositor.
$ uname -a -- Linux marshall-laptop 4.4.1-2-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Wed Feb 3 13:12:33 UTC 2016 x86_64 GNU/Linux
I'm running Arch Linux
Intel i5-4200U Integrated Graphics Resolution: 1366x768
I didn't like the amount of CPU resources and poor visuals that came out of XFCE4's default window resizing so I checked the "Hide content of windows when resizing" setting in Settings>Window Manager>Advanced. It has definitely improved the resizing but the bar around the window is both ugly and experiences horrible tearing.
To clarify, the bar I'm referring to is similar to the bar that is shown with Alt+Tab. It is used as a frame to resize the window but the window doesn't resize until the mouse is let go. The frame exhibits tearing while it is moved.
I am running compton with "compton --backend glx --vsync opengl-swc --glx-not-stencil --paint-on-overlay."
I do not know if this is caused by Compton but if it is I would love to see it disappear.
