Remove old "apps" codes as cleanup for josspaper. Retained in extra branch. #58

For discussion regarding removal of the apps code since they have not been updated in years.

My attitude in the past has been the the apps module doesn't do any harm since it doesn't import and is undocumented. Who knows, maybe someone will find it and use it? Still, removing it cleans up the code, so I can see the value.
