Is Your Feature Request Related To A Problem? Please describe.
The JSON files used to pass values between scripts could be more useful, and arguably more secure. They are also deleted at the end of the setup, which means investigation later can be troublesome - and raises issues with providing idempotent unattended scripts.
Describe The Solution. Why is it needed?
We should use something that can store values securely, so we can leave them in place to improve idempotence and user experience - perhaps even enabling use of the scripts to upgrade the environment.
