Fantasy Factory (FF) is a live-streamed performance created by Sanglim Han, Jen Agosta, and Xin Xin to explore the objectification of women’s body in game culture. A Twitch channel titled Fantasy Factory will be opened, inviting Twitch users to act as factory clients and direct the 3D character design through Twitch's default chat room. The 3D human character will first appear as a plain figure without a genital and gets modified over the course of an hour. The responsibilities of the factory roles are listed below -
Clients (Twitch users): Give directions to modify 3D character's body shape, costumes, props, and abilities. For example, they may requests the factory to “make the body sexier”, “put on a bikini”, or “increase flexibility”.
The Supervisor (Xin): Interprets client’s directions into executable actions for the workers. The supervisor walks between the line of pleasing / trolling the clients.
Worker 1 (Sanglim): Decode the supervisor’s order by transforming and animating the 3D character and environment.
Worker 2 (Jen): Decode the supervisor’s order by performing and mixing live sound.
Multiple windows will be presented within the channel, including the 3D modeling software workspace and live videos of the performers executing client’s orders.
The Twitch broadcast will be projected at Radical Networks as a live performance.
