Explored a ton of other options and I am confident xplr is the best choice for this.
It is the most extendable and also the most pleasant IMHO in terms of how it displays. It also seems really discoverable which I consider a big benefit.
It also has inbuilt fzf support which is a nice bonus given we already use that.
Finally it pairs nicely with exa as I feel that they are not competing in the same space unlike a number of options (which is fine it would have just made me more inclined to drop exa).
